(Clicking on one of the above 5 items will send you to where it may be purchased.)
NOTE: This recipe results in no dirty dishes whatsoever!
1. Add ⅓ cup of popping corn to the microwave popcorn popper. (Do not add any oil, salt, spices or anything else.)
2. After covering the bowl with the popper’s lid, microwave for 2½ minutes.¹
3. Dump both the popped and the un-popped corn into the “kernel catcher.”
4. Vigorously shake the kernel catcher up and down and sideways until most of the un-popped kernels and undersized popcorn have fallen into the chamber below.
5. Unscrew the bottom chamber.
6. Dump the un-popped kernels and undersized popcorn back into the popcorn popper.
7. Repeat step number 4 above, only this time with the bottom chamber still removed and the kernel catcher held in the air above the popcorn popper.
8. After again covering the popcorn popper with the it’s lid, microwave for 1½ or 2 minutes depending upon how much un-popped kernals are left.¹
9. While the popcorn is popping, dump the contents of the kernel catcher into a small wastebasket lined with a clean plastic grocery bag.
10. Repeat step numbers 3 through 7, only this time substituing the kitchen garbage can as the receptable for the unpopped kernals and undersized popcorn.
11. Add the contents of the kernel catcher to the wastebasket.
12. Carefully add 1½ ounces of previously melted ghee (clarified butter) in such a way that it is as close to being evenly distributed across the top of the popcorn as possible. (The melted ghee will not cause the popcorn to shrivel-up like melted butter does.)²
13. Bounce the popcorn up and down in order to distribute the ghee evenly throughout.
14. Sprinkle 1 super heaping teaspoon of powdered cheese (obtained from boxes of macaroni & cheese) as evenly as possible across the top surface of the popcorn. (optional)
15. Sprinkle 1 super heaping teaspoon of Howie’s Best Popcorn Spice as evenly as possible across the top surface of the popcorn.
16. Bounce the popcorn up and down in order to distribute the powdered cheese/popcorn spice evenly throughout.
17. Toss in a few short sticks of celery, bite size pieces of raw avocado, or ½ of a cucumber. (optional)
18. Put a polyethylene food-handling glove on your right hand for eating. (This eliminates having to wash your hands before or after eating.)
¹ Microwave timings may have to be adjusted slightly according to the characteristics of your particular microwave oven.
² Extra virgin olive oil may be substituted for the melted ghee.
