Any of the following true of you?
1. No time to cook.
2. No time to wash dishes.
3. No time to eat in restaurants.
4. No time to eat more than once or twice a day.
5. Not much time for grocery shopping.
If so, then this recipe may be for you!
Don’t let the simplicity of this recipe fool you. It is incredibly delicious. It uses two microwavable, disposable paper bowls¹, four rubber bands, and a disposable plastic spoon¹ as the only cooking / eating utensils. It is a complete meal in itself with plenty of protein and it is very filling. None of the non-optional ingredients are perishable (Butter will keep for months in the freezer), so grocery shopping is minimized.
Using two paper bowls¹ and four rubber bands, you can make a disposable “pressure cooker” for your microwave. The purpose of a pressure cooker is to speed up cooking time, save energy, and so the ingredients don’t dry out.
1. Add enough water to a 20-oz. microwavable, disposable paper bowl¹ to cover the bottom.
2. Fill the bowl with frozen cut broccoli. (They will shrink as they are cooked.)
3. Place a second 20-oz. disposable paper bowl upside down on top of the first.
4. Secure the two bowls together using four equally spaced rubber bands.
5. Microwave on high for 6 minutes.
6. While the broccoli is cooking, melt 4 tablespoons (½ stick) of butter².
7. After removing the assembly from the microwave, remove the rubber bands and save them for next time.
8. Save the top paper bowl for use as the bottom paper bowl next time.
9. Add a liberal amount of salt.
10. Add some black pepper.
11. Add a liberal amount of curry powder.
12. Fill the remainder of the bowl with Swad® Chevdo³.
13. Add the melted butter.
14. Microwave on high for 30 seconds.
15. No need to mix. (Mix while eating.)
16. Serve while still warm, and include a disposable plastic spoon¹.
17. Serve with sour cream as a condiment, and include a 2nd disposable plastic spoon. (optional)
18. Save the used paper bowl and a used plastic spoon for use in preparing / serving desert.
¹ At Wal-Mart®, I’ve purchased Dixie®
brand 20-oz. microwavable paper bowls in packages of 30 for US$3.38
and Diamond® brand plastic spoons in packages of 48 for US$1.14.

³ Swad Chevdo is a spicy, crunchy mixture of mostly rice & beans that’s ½ protein. It also contains turmeric and chili powder which are both purported to have outstanding health benefits. A good substitute for Chevdo is Shamiana® Chevda. Swad Chevdo and Shamiana Chevda are available from East Indian grocery stores.
