Any of the following true of you?

1. No time to cook.

2. No time to wash dishes.

3. No time to eat in restaurants.

4. No time for grocery shopping.

5. No time to eat more than once or twice a day.

If so, then this recipe may be for you!

This recipe uses two microwavable, disposable paper bowls¹, four rubber bands, and a disposable plastic spoon¹ as the only cooking / eating utensils. It also uses the paper bowl as the microwave container. It does not require any perishable ingredients such as fresh vegetables or dairy products, so you only need to stock up on groceries once every few weeks! It is a complete meal in itself with plenty of protein. It is very satisfying and filling, so you won’t have to eat more than once or twice a day! Sound too good to be true? Give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised!

1. Fill a 20 oz. microwavable, disposable paper bowl¹ ½ full with some combination of frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, frozen French fries, frozen mixed vegetables, frozen cauliflower, frozen chopped broccoli, etc.

2. Add 2 tablespoons of water.

2. Add Swad Chevdo² to make the bowl full to the brim. (It will shrink down as it is microwaved.)

3. Add ¼ teaspoon of salt. (optional)

4. Add ½ teaspoon of powdered ginger. (optional)

5. Add ¼ teaspoon of powdered asafetida³. (optional)

6. Rinse off the measuring spoon and hang it up to dry. (No time to wash dishes, remember?)

7. Place a second 20 oz. disposable paper bowl upside down on top of the first.

8. Secure the two bowls together using four equally spaced rubber bands. (This creates a disposable pressure cooker!)

9. Microwave on high for 3 minutes.

10. After removing the assembly from the microwave, remove the rubber bands and save them for next time.

11. Save the top paper bowl for use as the bottom paper bowl next time.

12. Sprinkle some chopped dates on top. (optional)

13. Add a few glugs of olive oil and/or 2 tablespoons (¼ stick) of melted butter.

14. No need to mix. (Mix while eating.)

15. Serve while still warm in the paper bowl including a disposable plastic spoon¹.

NOTE: This preparation is very good when served with sour cream as a condiment, in which case I use 2 tablespoons (¼ stick) of melted butter instead of the olive oil.

¹ At Wal-Mart®, I’ve purchased Dixie® brand 20 oz. microwavable paper bowls in packages of 30 for US$2.97 and Diamond® brand plastic spoons in packages of 48 for US$.96.

² Swad Chevdo is a spicy, crunchy mixture of mostly rice & beans that’s ½ protein. It also contains turmeric and chili powder which are both purported to have outstanding health benefits. Swad Chevdo is available from East Indian grocery stores. Call 800-800-SWAD to locate a dealer in your area.

³ Powdered asafetida is available from East Indian grocery stores.

Fine print: It is not recommended that you follow this diet for more than a few days at a time! Fresh fruit and fresh dairy products are also needed for a well balanced diet.
