Utility: JavaScript Programming Environment

(Tested using IE6, IE7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3)

1. To see how this web page works, select one of the sample programs, click , and then note the computed OUTPUT in the bottom text box.

2. After selecting one of the sample programs, clicking , and carefully noting the OUTPUT, try modifying the *DATA or the *PROGRAM. Then click again to see what effect the modification has on the OUTPUT.

3. Click in order to begin entering your own JavaScript data and program.

4. Clicking causes all variables to be reset to “undefined,” and could therefore be thought of as a “Clear all” function. (Caution: Clicking causes “Undo” information to be lost.)

5. For more information on programming using JavaScript, see the JavaScript QuickStart Guide (Includes a tutorial.)

NOTE: One thing that you may find annoying about this web page is that if you simply want to scroll through one of the sample programs in the top text box, it is falsely assumed that you are about to make modifications, so the output (bottom) text box is cleared and “0. User generated” suddenly appears as the current sample program selection. To reverse this, simply click .

NOTE: This web page was created using Notepad. Except for the background image file, the keyboard command JavaScript file, and the font / color data JavaScript file, it is completely self contained, and the absence of these three files will not cause any problems. Please feel free to save it to your hard drive using “File/Save as….” Double-click on the newly created “LLBest - Utility - JavaScript Programming Environment” icon (“Javascript” icon for Firefox), and make it one of your “Favorites.” It will work perfectly even when you are no longer connected to the Internet, or, heaven forbid, when this web page is no longer available!

Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.
