(Tested using IE6, IE7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3)
1. To see how this web page works, select one of the
sample problems, click , and then note the calculated solution in the right-hand text box.
2. Click and try
entering your own calculator problem. Then click to see the result.
3. Another way to create a new problem is to edit
one of the sample problems. The right-hand (“solution”) text box is automatically cleared whenever the left-hand (“problem”) text box is selected for editing.
4. Clicking causes all variables to be reset to “undefined,” and could therefore be thought of as a “Clear all” function. (Caution: All “Undo” information will be lost.)
5. “Undo” information is saved whenever a button is clicked, whenever a new sample problem is selected, and whenever the mouse is clicked inside the problem text box..
6. reverses the effect of .
7. To print or save the results, do a “Copy/Paste” to your text editor or word processor.
8. For documentation on built-in math functions / constants, click .
NOTE: One thing that you may find annoying about this web page is that if you click one of the sample problems in the left-hand text box, it is assumed that you are about to make modifications, so the solution (right-hand) text box is cleared and “0. User generated” suddenly appears as the current sample problem selection. To reverse this, simply click .
NOTE: Some of the sample problems were derived from “JavaScript Quick-Reference – v1.0 by Luke Terheyden; 7 May 1999” (http://www.werelight.com/docs/JavaScript_Quick_Reference.htm).
NOTE: This web page was created using Notepad. Except for the background image file, the keyboard command JavaScript file, and the font / color data JavaScript file, it is completely self contained, and the absence of these three files will not cause any problems. Please feel free to save it to your hard drive using “File/Save as….” Double-click on the newly created “LLBest - Utility - Advanced On-line Math Calculator ” icon (“MathCalculator” icon for Firefox), and make it one of your “Favorites.” It will work perfectly even when you are no longer connected to the Internet, or, heaven forbid, when this web page is no longer available!
Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.
