Any of the following true of you?
1. No time to wash dishes.
2. No time to eat in restaurants.
3. Not much time to cook.
4. Not much time for grocery shopping.
If so, then this recipe may be for you!
Don’t let the simplicity of this recipe fool you. It is incredibly delicious. It requires only 4 ingredients. It uses a disposable paper bowl¹ and a disposable plastic spoon¹ as the only cooking / eating utensils. None of the ingredients are perishable (Butter will keep for months in the freezer), so grocery shopping is minimized.
1. Start 2 tablespoons (¼ cup) of butter (preferably unsalted) melting in the microwave².
2. Using a disposable plastic spoon¹ add 4 heaping spoonfuls of your favorite jam or jelly to a 20-oz. microwavable paper bowl¹.
3. Add 1 cup of water.
4. Add ⅔ cup of instant oatmeal.
5. Add ½ cup of powdered milk.
6. Mix.
7. Microwave on high for 2 minutes.
8. Add the melted butter.
9. Mix.
10. Serve while still warm.
¹ At Wal-Mart®, I’ve purchased Dixie® brand 20-oz. microwavable paper bowls in packages of 30 for US$3.38 and Diamond® brand plastic spoons in packages of 48 for US$1.14.
