| Home | “In addition to being a complete meal in itself, I find that this recipe, because of the hot spices, is also very good for getting rid of a headache.” |
Even though this recipe requires only 2 non-optional ingredients, it is surprisingly delicious, nutritious, filling and satisfying. It uses a disposable foam bowl1 and a disposable plastic spoon1 as the only preparation/eating utensils. It doesn’t require any cooking, and if the sour cream is purchased in small quantities on the road, it doesn’t require any refrigeration either. In addition to being a complete meal in itself, I find that this recipe, because of the hot spices, is also very good for getting rid of a headache.
1. Fill a 20-oz. foam bowl1 ¾ full with Swad® Chevdo2 or Shamiana® Chevda² (a spicy, crunchy mixture of rice, beans & nuts).
2. Add approximately ¼ stick of soft butter3. (optional)
3. Microwave for 30 seconds or until the butter starts to melt.4 (optional)
4. Mix (if butter was added).
5. Serve including a disposable plastic spoon1, and with sour cream as a condiment.
1 At Wal-Mart®, I’ve purchased Hefty®
brand 20-oz. disposable foam bowls in packages of 30 for US$2.62 and Diamond® brand disposable plastic spoons in packages of 48 for US$1.14.
2 Available at East Indian grocery stores.
3 For a good method for dispensing butter while traveling, see “Fresh Butter on the Road” (http://LLBest.com/ButterOnTheRoad.htm).
4 If the mixture is to be microwaved, then a microwaveable paper bowl should be used in step 1 above, instead of the foam bowl. At Wal-Mart®, I’ve purchased Dixie® brand 20-oz. microwavable paper bowls in packages of 30 for US$3.38 and Diamond® brand plastic spoons in packages of 48 for US$1.14.
