This recipe assumes that you have access to a microwave oven on the road. It requires only 3 ingredients. It uses a disposable paper bowl¹, a disposable plastic spoon¹ and a can opener as the only preparation/eating utensils, and doesn’t require any refrigeration.

1. Use a disposable plastic spoon¹ to rub 4 big globs of Smucker’s® Goober® Strawberry² off on the edge of a 20-oz. microwavable paper bowl.

2. Add ½ cup of instant oatmeal or a “packet” of Nabisco® “Instant Cream of Wheat Original”.

3. Add ½ of a 12 oz. can of evaporated milk³. (Before opening the can, shake it well. Also, for the sake of accurate measurment, remove the top completely.)

4. Mix, using the plastic spoon.

5. Microwave on high for 2 minutes.

6. Mix.

7. Serve while still warm.

¹ At Wal-Mart®, I’ve purchased Dixie® brand 20-oz. microwavable paper bowls in packages of 30 for US$3.38 and Diamond® brand plastic spoons in packages of 48 for US$1.14.

² Smucker’s Goober Strawberry is a mixture of peanut butter and strawberry jelly. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated even after it’s been opened. If you have a cooler for storing the unused portion of the jam, then ordinary peanut butter and jam could be substituted. Also, 2 tablespoons (¼ stick) of ordinary butter (preferably unsalted) could be substituted for the peanut butter.

³ Evaporated milk actually makes better tasting cereal than regular milk because it’s thicker. If you don’t have any, then ¾ cup of water plus ½ cup of powdered milk could be substituted.
