Why should New Orleans, a place with such an ideal location / climate (next to a river, a lake and an ocean, with warm gulf breezes year ‘round) be subsidized by all of the nation’s taxpayers so that mostly poor people can live there, and so that the city can be a crime-ridden slum?
New Orleans should be exclusively for the very rich! It should be for people who can afford to build really first-class levees, can afford to add enough fill dirt to make their property above sea level, can afford to build hurricane proof houses, can afford a really first-class police force, can afford really first-class schools, etc.
Whatever happened to free enterprise? Whatever happened to common sense?
