It doesn’t do any good, when trying to evacuate a city, to turn all of the outbound highways into huge parking lots with people who have to go to the toilet, and with vehicles that are running out of gas!
The first thing to do when trying to evacuate a city is to pass, and to strictly enforce, a law that all vehicles on the outbound highways must be completely full with people (all seats occupied)! It might even be necessary, during certain times of the day, for only completely full busses to be allowed on the highways or for one lane to be a “busses only” lane. Also, helicopters should be made available to supply the evacuees with such things as emergency drinking water, emergency “porta-potties,” emergency sanitary wipes, and emergency gasoline.
Why doesn’t anyone, including the press, think of these things? It’s just common sense isn’t it?
