PROBLEM

Suppose that you want to make a high quality, noise free tape recording of a five hour FM radio talk show which begins at 1 a.m. while you are sleeping.

SOLUTION

A Hi-Fi Stereo VCR is capable of making CD quality recordings, even at it’s slowest speed, even using the cheapest blank tapes that you can buy. The slowest speed allows 6 hours to be recorded on a tape which now costs less than US$1!

Simply feed the line-out from your FM receiver into the line-in of your VCR, and program the VCR to record at the slower speed (SLP) from the line-in jacks from 12:59 a.m. to 6:01 a.m. It’s that simple!

Before you retire for the night, remember to tune the FM receiver to the proper station, and remember to leave it turned on. It’s also a very good idea to make a one minute test recording and then immediately rewind it and play it back. Be sure to listen very carefully for any noise, distortion, improper equalization, or improper volume level. Then remember to rewind the tape again so that it’s ready to begin recording the real thing. Also, remember to turn the VCR off before retiring, so that it can turn on and record automatically.
